Nokia today announced that it is planning to buy Oz Communications company to enhance especially its instant messaging and e-mailing services through mobile handsets. With this partnership, mobile users will easily access AOL, ICQ, Yahoo, Windows Live Hotmail, MSN and Gmail.
Oz Communications is a private company centered in Montreal with 220 employees. It is known by its technology to enable mobile users to easily access computer programs from Microsoft, Google and Yahoo.
This partnership will arise new oppurtunities to Nokia in their “Connecting People” mission in which people will easily connect to each other by communicating through their favorite internet programs. So says the Head of Nokia Services and Software, Niklas Savander and adds to it, “OZ’s team and technology will help Nokia to address the fast growing consumer messaging market.”
Oz is also currently working with Nokia and other mobile operators such as AT&T in USA, Orange in France and T-Mobile in Germany and also other handset producers Samsung, Motorola and Sony Ericsson. We will see how each of the other handset producers will respond soon.
