It has been a classic for Samsung lately to release some reloaded versions of the popular handsets. This time it is for the i900 Omnia, the purple version is revealed which was already available in black and white colors. Also some new features are coming along with this color change as well. There are some novelties in terms of security and screen widgets. Even a new cable is restored in the retail package of the new purple Omnia which was not there before.
To refresh your memories about the features of Samsung Omnia, we should first tell that it had WinMo operating system, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, HSDPA, GPS support, Wi-Fi, 3.2” of WQVGA touchscreen display and two versions of internal memory, 16GB and 8GB available.
Now on the new Omnia package, there are some additional features to the older versions. First of all SecureRed application is available which provides remote access to your handset in case it’s stolen, so that you can prevent your personal information to be hijacked as well.
Secondly there are many applications integrated to the purple Omnia. These applications include the popular ones like mySpace, Facebook and Flickr, and also some new ones like SpaceMe, ExploreMe and PlaceMe. These new applications provide geo-referencing between your friend from all those social networks so that you can find your common feelings and interests.
And finally as we mentioned before there will be TV-out cable in the retail package of purple Omnia which was not there before.
The release date for the purple Omnia is this month, middle of February 2009, starting from Italy. Its price tag will be 469 euro which is about 600USD. However at this point we don’t have further information about the device’s availability in other European and other countries. But expect to hear it soon from SamsungNokia.
