Whatever they may say, we believe that for Samsung, there’s been no recession. They are on a complete roll, announcing model after model. And the latest announcement is the Samsung B5702, a dual SIM phone that was first showcased in Barcelona at the MWC 2009 where it was rather overshadowed by the bigger players.
The B5702 allows you to use two SIM cards in the same phone at the same time. It also supports quad band GSM and is one of the only two phones in the world to do so, the other one being the recently released Acer DX900 which uses the Windows Mobile platform.
And the dual SIMs is not the only good feature about this little piece. It also has a very decent 3 MP autofocus camera, which is no surprise considering the fact that Samsung is one of the first to launch an 8 MP camera phone. Other features include Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, an FM radio with RDS, and a full fledged multimedia player that supports mp3 as well as mp4 playback, but no 3G.
Samsung seem to be making efforts in the right direction with dual SIM handsets as this happens to be a service a lot of people are opting for. The B5702 is scheduled for release in May ’09 with a price tag of around 420 USD, and Russia will be the first to get their hands on it.
